The National Campaign to End Corporate Personhood and Demand Real Democracy!

The General Meeting Topic will be The Colorado Community Rights Amendment / Ballot Initiative #75
Representatives will outline the origins and current status of the proposed constitutional amendment.
The amendment affirms the primacy of local self-government, and would declare:

• Counties and municipalities have the power to enact laws to establish and protect fundamental rights of individuals, communities and nature
• Counties and municipalities can enact laws to define or eliminate the powers of corporations or business entities to interfere with the those fundamental rights.
• Such local laws are not subject to preemption by any federal, state or international laws.

Supporters of the proposed amendment were instrumental in creating in 2013 a Community Bill of Rights and Obligations for the City of Lafayette – as well as prohibitions on a range of oil and gas production, extraction and recovery activities (including “fracking”) within the City of Lafayette.

There will be petitions in support of the CCRA Initiative available to sign; and  petition circulator training will be offered to interested folks.

We will also discuss People’s Fair activities.Thanks to all who participated at our Peoples Fair booth! We added over 300 new signatures to Move to Amend’s Petition to Amend (which declares that corporations are not people and money is not speech, and calls for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to meet those objectives)
