Since early 2015, an important coalition has been forming. This coalition focuses on the power of the District Attorney’s office as well as on the critical 2016 D.A.‘s election.

This movement began with an unprecedented effort to recall current DA Mitch Morrissey from office, an effort which helped educate the public about the influence of the District Attorney–Colorado’s highest paid state elected official. The D.A.’s office has the potential to transform an oppressive criminal justice system, to reduce mass incarceration, and to hold law enforcement accountable in cases of excessive force and homicide.

On January 18th, 2016, following the MLK March, we will be having a community discussion and forum with the four current DA candidates. This will take place at The Trinity Methodist Church on 18th and Broadway from 1:00 – 4:00. We ask that you save this date and support this issue in the way that is appropriate for your organization or yourself. Publicizing the event and advocating turn-out individually and to your congregations/groups is especially important. We also need volunteers at the event to pass out fliers and to assist with other logistical matters.
