Oppose the Climate Denier Cabinet

January 9, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Next week Senators will begin hearings on Donald Trump’s picks for his cabinet — including the climate deniers he’s chosen for every major environment related position in the White House.

The climate movement is organizing nation-wide actions at Senate offices to oppose the Climate Denier Cabinet. The #DayAgainstDenial will put pressure on every single Senator to stand up against Trump’s reckless picks — and there’s an event near you in Denver calling on both senators from Colorado to vote no on all of them.

Most Senators don’t have a position yet on Trump’s cabinet choices, and are waiting to hear from their constituents to pick a side. This is how big votes in Congress are decided: the people who make the most noise have the biggest impact.

RSVP here for the Day Against Denial action in Denver on January 9th and help keep Trump’s climate deniers out of the cabinet.

Here are the details:

What: Denver Day Against Denial – a national day of action to reject Trump’s climate denier cabinet

Where: Senator Michael Bennet’s Office, 1127 Sherman St., Suite 150, Denver

When: January 9, 12:00 PM

The climate is changing and anyone who denies it should not be in the White House Cabinet. Here’s who Trump wants in office:

  • Secretary of State: ExxonMobil’s CEO Rex Tillerson, a top funder of climate denial and attacks on climate action who helped in Exxon’s cover up of its climate science.
  • Environmental Protection Agency: Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who spent most of his time in office filing (and losing) lawsuits against the EPA. He even let an oil company write some of his official correspondence.
  • Department of Energy: Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is on the board of the company building the Dakota Access Pipeline, and said he wanted to eliminate the agency altogether.
  • Department of Interior: Rep. Ryan Zinke, who has been fighting to dig up as much coal, oil and gas from public lands as possible.

These men could do enormous damage in office. Big Oil would effectively be in control of our foreign policy, energy policy and environmental policy. Senators should reject each of them.

RSVP for the Denver event here to make sure you have all the details.

This is the start of the push against Trump’s nominees — if we can make this event big, we’ll set the tone for the weeks to come and make a mark on the outcome.
