Facing a spectrum of industrial threats, corporate lawsuits, and government infringement on worker’s rights, Colorado communities are beginning to see that a lack of local democracy means a decrease in nearly every environmental and living standard we believe in and count on.
- Courts consistently rule against communities attempting to protect residents’ health, welfare, and safety from toxic industrial activities like fracking.
- State laws eliminate communities’ right to set a local living wage or minimum wage.
- Global trade agreements like the Trans Pacific Partnership install “tribunals” to override local democratic decision making.
The lines are being drawn, and the places where we live, work, and raise our families have become the battleground. If ever there were a time for a grassroots solution to corporate excess, it’s RIGHT NOW!
Help prepare and launch the statewide campaign for the 2016 Community Rights Colorado Constitutional Amendment. Led by a grassroots effort of Coloradans, the state initiative is the only one of its kind bringing together people and issues from across the state and directly addressing the tragic and growing disparity between community rights and corporate power.
The day’s agenda will feature activists from around the state as well as organizers from the national and Oregon community rights movements.
